Steve's Story

Championing Climate Innovation Across a Multi-Academy Trust
Steve Hall, Deputy Director of School Improvement at LiFE Multi-Academy Trust, first became involved with Apps for Good during our Innovate for Climate Change course pilot in 2021/22. Steve initially introduced Apps for Good at Bosworth Academy and, following success with the course, has since expanded delivery to two more schools within the Trust with plans to roll it out further.
As an Apps for Good Fellow, Steve has been a great ambassador for our charity. In 2023, he was named Apps for Good Teacher of the Year in recognition of his support, as well as his commitment to empowering students through technology.
Steve praised the course for giving students a clearer picture of the range of skills needed in the tech industry, describing it as “powerful” in its ability to bring learning to life. Teachers, he noted, especially valued the ready-made resources, which made delivery straightforward and impactful.
The opportunity to engage with industry volunteers was another highlight. “It gave our students real purpose to their learning and empowered them to understand how they can make a positive difference,” he said.
Reflecting on the wider impact, Steve said: “Our students learned so much more than just the technical knowledge required to build a prototype app, they learned how to collaborate more effectively, communicate their ideas, think critically and show resilience to solve problems.”
