Bob's Story

Bob Schukai, Chief Information Officer at PNC Bank, has been a dedicated Apps for Good volunteer for over 15 years. A passionate advocate for young people in tech, Bob has generously given his time to engage with students through countless virtual Industry Engagement sessions, sharing his expertise, offering guidance, and acting as a powerful role model.

In 2025, Bob recorded an inspiring session for students as part of our new Career Series where he explored the essential skills employers seek. He was also recognised as our 2025 Champion of the Year, an award celebrating his longstanding support and unwavering belief in the next generation.

One of Bob’s proudest moments has been witnessing greater gender inclusion in STEM, “Knowing how hard it is to get girls interested in STEM and sitting in an Apps for Good award ceremony where 60% of the participants were girls is AWESOME.”

He’s also been consistently impressed by the creativity and ambition of student teams, especially through our annual Showcase. He said, “It just makes me feel so good for the future to know that the world is in very capable hands with the kids that come through the programme.”

Reflecting on his time volunteering with Apps for Good, Bob said, “15 years on, I’ve watched the programme evolve and go from good to great to outstanding…You’ll be rewarded when you see the finished products and, years later, how those kids have gone on to amazing careers of their own.”
