Impact Report CEO Reflections

As technology reshapes the world around us, it’s essential that education keeps pace - not just with the tools students use, but with the skills, values, and thinking they’ll need to thrive. At Apps for Good, we’re committed to developing future-facing courses that are not only relevant and impactful, but also created with the educators who deliver them.

Our approach is rooted in co-creation. We don’t just write resources for schools - we actively collaborate with teachers, valuing their insights, experience, and on-the-ground knowledge. At the heart of this collaboration are our Apps for Good Fellows.

Educators shaping the future

Our Fellows are a vibrant, collaborative group of educators from across the UK who deliver Apps for Good courses in their schools. These teachers and leaders are more than just participants - they’re our most trusted educator voices and advocates, helping to share the positive impact our courses have had on their students, as well as helping to refine, test, and shape our resources. Here’s how we work closely with our Fellows throughout the year:

  • Feedback and impact: We regularly connect with our Fellows through interviews, surveys, and informal conversations to understand their Apps for Good experiences - what’s working well, what challenges they face, and where we can do better. Their input allows us to keep evolving our resources in meaningful ways.
  • In-person insight: Our in-person events and group sessions offer a unique opportunity to gather in-depth, qualitative feedback from both educators and students, as well as to showcVirtual Communityase the innovative ideas of students. These opportunities give us a real-time window into how learners engage with our content, so we can continue designing student-centred learning journeys that help to support their interests and future career aspirations.
  • Piloting new courses: Our Fellows have been instrumental in shaping our latest offerings. Educator feedback helped ensure that each course is as useful in the classroom as it is inspiring for learners. Thanks to our digital delivery model, we’re able to update course materials annually, so educators always have access to the latest version - shaped by frontline voices.
  • Connecting Students with Industry: Our Fellows understand the value of connecting their students with our Industry Volunteers. By working together to make these connections possible, we help strengthen students’ educational journeys and inspire their future career aspirations, bringing authentic voices from the world of work directly into the classroom. That’s why all of our courses offer free Industry Engagement opportunities to any school taking part!
  • Virtual community: Throughout the year, we invite our Fellows to come together online - to provide feedback, discuss mutual topics of interest, share challenges, explore pedagogy, and support each other as educators navigating the ever-evolving world of technology. Each summer term, we gather our Fellows for an in-depth focus group to explore a key topic in the tech education space. In 2023, the conversation centred around AI in education and in 2024, we turned our attention to Cyber Security and Digital Wellbeing.
  • Advocates for tech education: Our Fellows are not just educators - they’re passionate advocates for meaningful tech learning. They’ve shared their Apps for Good experiences in blogs, radio interviews, panel discussions, and have even hosted their own Digital Innovation Summit, just to name a few!

We’re endlessly grateful for the ways they amplify the impact of our work and bring attention to the importance of equipping young people with the skills to tackle real-world issues through technology.
