Who are Denbigh High School?

Denbigh High School is a mixed comprehensive school with approximately 1120 students between the ages of 11 and 16. They are located in Luton, Bedfordshire and are part of the Chiltern Learning Trust.

What has their Apps for Good journey been like?

Denbigh have been delivering a variety of Apps for Good courses since September 2015 and have taken part in many engagement opportunities.

The amazing teachers and students at Denbigh High School have always valued the Awards and have entered every year since 2014. In 2015 they made it to the finals with their app ‘weKonnekt’ (previously named "Who Cares") which was designed to support young carers. Many of their entries have focused on supporting and improving the lives of young people facing a variety of challenges. In 2020, two of their entries made it to the finals, with ‘Think Again’ focusing on spreading awareness of childhood dementia and ‘INeed Recipes’ showing users how to make nutritionally balanced and tasty meals with a limited budget.

What has been our highlight of working with them?

Our highlight of working with Denbigh High School has been seeing the pictures from their celebration event in honour of their two winning teams from the 2020 Awards. Seeing the students being presented with their trophies and recognised for their hard work following a very challenging year was inspiring for us all at Apps for Good.
