What is your product and who is it for?

Our product is an app designed to help people who may struggle to interact socially with other people, whether that be due to social anxiety or neurodivergence etc. We have currently targeted this towards teenagers, but as we innovate our ideas and app we will expand our app to others as well.

What inspired your idea, and why is it important to you?

We were inspired by the opportunity to help people who feel isolated and want help with social interaction. This is especially important now more than ever for those of us who lost years of our childhood to COVID and are still struggling with the lasting impact the lockdown had on our ability to interact. People with social differences are often stigmatised and deserve a tool to help them navigate the world.

How does your product solve the problem?

Lots of people may struggle to interact in social circumstances and may feel ashamed to ask for help/ not know how to fix this problem or who to ask. This is where Sociality comes in. It offers a personal course to try and improve an individual's 'social toolkit'. It gives them a chance to practice their social skills and the chance to ask questions in a judgement-free environment, helping to foster conversational confidence.

How does it work?

  1. Text to speech feature for people + can change accent of voice to get clearer answer.
  2. AI to practice conversation in everyday situations.
  3. Personalised roadmap of target areas- quiz is taken and it adapts to your needs.
  4. Professionals available to answer any questions.
  5. “Level up” system to keep you motivated.
  6. Account system so progress can be transferred.
  7. User can change colours of text and background so it’s easier to read.

Meet the team

Why vote for Sociality?

Socially awkward people are always overlooked with no real systems in place to help them understand the world, how to be confident and feel like they belong. If our team was voted for, a real difference could be made for many teenagers at the moment who feel lonely and have poor mental health. No one is born knowing how to socialise and it isn’t taught either.
