What is your product and who is it for?

Our product inspires all audiences to improve the impact of their meals on the environment and help promote healthy diets.

What inspired your idea, and why is it important to you?

We were inspired to create an app that would help with climate change and the environmental impact of food, having learnt that:

  • Mass meat production which causes deforestation and leads to animals being forced into other habitats
  • Livestock producing greenhouse gases
  • 1/3 of the food on the planet is wasted and too much food is given to livestock instead of people, in fact 9.1 million people die of starvation ever year

How does your product solve the problem?

Encourages users to share recipes and work together to use all the ingredients they have to avoid food waste. Our app highlights how a more plant based diet helps the environment, and encourages us to buy locally grown produce.

How does it work?

You record what you eat every day and earn points that are shown by houses and a leaderboard. If you eat more meat than vegetables then, the points reduce and the house may change. Searching for recipes that use up ingredients you already have gains points, along with sharing ideas with others. The app gives feedback and ideas on how to further improve, along with some mini-games for younger users to learn about healthy, environmentally friendly ways to eat.
