Our Work

Tell us a little bit about yourself, what have you been studying at school and what are you planning to do next?

I’m Lissy, and over the last two weeks, I have been completing work experience at Apps for Good. I recently finished my GCSE's at Worle Community School where I studied the core subjects, alongisde Geography, French and Drama. In September, I'll begin studying A-level Maths, Biology and Chemistry as I plan to go on to become a paediatric doctor.

What have you enjoyed most about your two weeks work experience and have you had to face any challenges?

I have thoroughly enjoyed the last two weeks, especially testing the new micro:bit technology. This was exciting yet challenging as I have very little experience in coding. However, I believe that I am more equipped to deal with these challenges now as I have developed resilience over my time at Apps for Good. I was surprised with the amount of freedom that I was given as to when I completed each task and feel like I have developed my independence.

What is it that excites you about Apps for Good?

Something that excited me about Apps for Good was the variety in the programmes. There are always so many different tasks to complete, each requiring different skills, meaning every day is different.

Have you had a chance to learn or practice any skills that you think will be helpful for your future?

Over the last two weeks, I have learned many skills, including how to collaborate with others to achieve a goal. Work experience with Apps for Good has been an amazing experience, teaching me so much. I am very grateful to have received the opportunity to work on such an amazing programme.
