Showcasing entries

All Entries will be reviewed as part of a Shortlisting process, during which submissions are refined down to those selected to progress to the Finalist stage. During Shortlisting, Entries will be evaluated by our community of volunteers and representatives from our partner organisations, with support from Apps for Good. Representatives from Apps for Good will also review all applications.

At the conclusion of Shortlisting, selected Entries will advance to the next round as Finalists. All Finalists will be asked to submit a video pitch, which will be shared with a Judging Panel. The Judging Panel may include representatives from our Sponsors as well as senior professionals from the technology and business sectors.

Judging Criteria and Process

Entries will be assessed according to defined criteria, which may include (but are not limited to) the idea, the solution, clarity of communication and innovation. Each category is scored using a 10-point rating scale, and scores are combined using a weighted formula as follows:

  • Idea ratings count 4x
  • Product ratings count 3x
  • Project presentation counts 1x

Impartiality and Decision Finality

All Judges will be independent of participating Teams. Any Judge found to have a conflict of interest will be recused from scoring the affected Entry.

The Judges’ and Apps for Good’s decisions are final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the outcome of the competition.

Timeline

For transparency, the competition will follow a timeline as outlined on our Showcase webpage.

Exact dates will be communicated to participating Teams and may be subject to change at Apps for Good’s discretion.

Publication and Promotion

Finalists’ video pitches or presentations may be published or shared on the Apps for Good website, social media channels, or other promotional materials, in accordance with the consent forms signed.

In previous years, the PCA Winner has been the Finalist Team receiving the highest number of votes through a public online voting process. However, Apps for Good may, at its sole discretion, change the selection process for one or more PCA Winners, or choose not to award a PCA Winner in any given year.

Additional submissions

If a Showcase entrant is unable to submit the extra work for our Judging Panel, Apps for Good reserves the right to remove its Entry from the Competition and replace it with another Entry.
