The Apps for Good Showcase is back for 2024! In this exciting annual event, we celebrate the incredible tech innovation skills of young people across the UK. Each year, hundreds of students who have taken part in our computing courses enter and pitch their ground-breaking app ideas to a diverse range of industry professionals and fellow tech innovators.

We are proud to be backed by such fantastic businesses whose financial support and commitment to employee volunteering make Showcase possible! We asked them to share a bit more about their category and what inspired them to get involved, while we reveal a very exciting judging panel!

Kate Pretkel, VP, Global Head of Sustainability at EPAM said:

"At EPAM, we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to succeed in the digital world. That's why we're passionate about investing in education and equipping students with the skills they need to thrive. We're proud to partner with Apps for Good, an inspiring education technology movement that empowers students to develop essential skills in teamwork, creativity, and entrepreneurship. The Apps for Good Showcase is an incredible platform for students to put their newfound abilities to the test, create innovative technology solutions, and showcase their talents to the world. We're excited to see what amazing things these young minds come up with, and we're confident that they'll make a real difference in the world."

We're delighted to be welcoming former Apps for Good Showcase winners to vote in our Future Founders category this year! Apps for Good CEO, Natalie Moore, said:

"The judging panel for this category will include past Showcase winners working alongside Industry Volunteers to choose future founders. Tech is opening up so many possibilities for the next generation to make the world a better place. Our Future Founders Showcase category is the perfect place to see some of the many innovative and exciting ideas that young people have created to improve their futures. We're proud to offer this space for young people to showcase their creativity and tech knowledge."

A few words from our category sponsor Spotify:

"The incredible work done by Apps for Good is close to our heart at Spotify, and so we're really proud to be able to show our support in this way. Our founder, Daniel Ek, discovered a passion for technology and learning via his local library, and so it's possible that the company wouldn't exist today without that access to free resources and education, something that is at the heart of the Apps for Good mission. There are now thousands of talented people at Spotify who work every day to build something that millions of people care about and enjoy, and so it's vital that we partner with organisations like Apps for Good who create opportunities for these inspiring young people to similarly find their own paths to shape the future they want through technology."

Clare Lindsey from Sage said:

"Sage is supporting Showcase as supporting young people to identify STEM careers is part of Sage Foundation's commitment to knock down barriers, so that everyone can thrive. We recognise that not everyone has the opportunity to develop these skills. Partnering with Apps for Good gives us the platform to provide extra support to students, while raising their confidence in their abilities and inspiring them to develop their ideas, empowering them with the skills and motivation to take action on the things that matter to them the most."

Charlotte Mukungu, Head of Philanthropy for EMEA, APAC and LATAM at BNY Mellon, said:

"We are excited to collaborate with Apps for Good to empower students with the knowledge and tools to harness AI for social good. This innovative course not only educates on AI’s potential but also cultivates a deep understanding of ethical considerations, guiding students to create impactful solutions."

The deadline for students to submit their Showcase entries is Friday 26th April 2024. Our Industry Volunteers (and former Showcase winners!) are looking forward to shortlisting entries and will ensure every student receives personal feedback on their app ideas, even if they don’t progress to the finals.

A very big thank you to all of our Partners who make Showcase possible and good luck to all students entering this year!

Keep an eye out on our website and social media channels to see the teams being showcased, and for upcoming details on how to vote in the People’s Choice Awards in June.
