Mount Grace School has been an Apps for Good Education Partner since 2011. We interviewed Headteacher Peter Baker about how Apps for Good has impacted educator Fathima Anwari and the school.
Mount Grace School, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire
Hertfordshire, East of England
Apps for Good has encouraged Fathima's creativity, made her more technically aware of how Apps are created. Giving her access to other technical professionals has provided a deeper insight into the subject. Presentation and Time management skills have been developed further.
She has become considerably more confident in being involved with different types of people. She has had to work with and communicate with varied people in and out of the school.
Her teaching methodology has improved - very 'applied' learning and students are encouraged to think for themselves and solve problems. She feels her technical skills and knowledge are well integrated together.
The profile of the department has improved dramatically. The banner outside the school announcing one of our teams as the winners has improved the public perception and helped the school's community profile.
She would definitely recommend Apps for Good to other schools as students enjoyed the challenge. It is very relevant and exciting. Students were all very supportive of each other and it improved both their teamwork and communication skills. Students were very focused and it improved the relationship with parents who very much enjoyed the pitch event at school and seeing their child's work.
